Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about custom rings, diamonds, pricing, and our process.
Our pricing reflects a different approach. JP Jewelerz works directly with top global manufacturers, the same suppliers used by major jewelry companies like Kay Jewelers and Shane Co, and removes the unnecessary costs that drive prices up. Big name jewelers charge more for branding, storefronts, and marketing overhead. We focus on delivering the same level of craftsmanship and certified stones at a price that reflects the actual value of the piece, not the cost of a mall lease.
Yes. In most cases, JP Jewelerz can match or beat competitor quotes, including quotes from local Utah jewelers like J. Brooks Jewelers, Rocky Mountain Diamond, and Provo Diamonds, while still delivering a higher quality stone or overall piece. If you already have a quote, send it to us. We'll review it and show you exactly how we can create equal or better quality at a more competitive price.
That depends entirely on your budget and preferences. JP Jewelerz works with a wide range of budgets and offers natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds, and alternative stones like moissanite. Our goal is to design a custom engagement ring that fits what you're comfortable spending while delivering a high end look and feel. Whether you're working with $500 or $10,000, we'll be honest about what's achievable and maximize the value of every dollar.
JP Jewelerz requires full payment upfront before production begins. This keeps our operations lean, our overhead low, and our pricing as fair as possible for every client. We accept payment via Square, Venmo, and Zelle.
Yes. All of our diamonds are fully certified and sourced through some of the most established suppliers in the world. JP Jewelerz offers IGI, GIA, and GIE certified stones. Every diamond comes with documentation so you know exactly what you're getting.
Lab grown and natural diamonds are visually identical and share the same physical and chemical properties. The primary difference is origin. Both are real diamonds. Lab grown options typically cost 30 to 50 percent less, making them an excellent choice for buyers who want a larger stone or more design budget. JP Jewelerz offers both.
Yes. There are several strategies to maximize size while staying within your budget. You can choose shapes that appear larger like oval, radiant, or elongated cushion cut, adjust clarity grades in ways that aren't visible to the naked eye, or explore lab grown diamonds which offer significantly more size per dollar.
JP Jewelerz works with all major diamond shapes including round brilliant, oval, cushion cut, princess cut, radiant, emerald cut, pear, and marquise. We'll help you find the right shape for the style of ring you're building.
Yes. JP Jewelerz works with sapphires, emeralds, rubies, moissanite, and other gemstones for custom rings. Sapphire engagement rings are a popular custom request. Sapphires rank 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making them excellent for everyday wear.
It starts with your vision, a sketch, a photo, a description, or just a general idea. From there we consult on metal choice, stone selection, and setting style, provide a detailed quote, and once approved we move into production. Custom pieces take 14 to 25 business days depending on complexity.
Maddie Grace Jewelry is a boutique brand with a defined signature aesthetic, so you're buying into their style. JP Jewelerz works the other way. The aesthetic is entirely yours. We design around your vision, not a brand template. If you've looked at Maddie Grace and liked the quality but wanted something more personal, that's exactly what JP Jewelerz offers.
Yes. JP Jewelerz offers an online custom ring builder on our website. Unlike configurators at Kay Jewelers or Shane Co that limit you to existing inventory, our builder is a starting point for something fully original.
JP Jewelerz works with yellow gold in 10k, 14k, and 18k, plus white gold, rose gold, and platinum. We'll help you choose the right metal based on your lifestyle, skin tone, and the look you're going for.
Yes. Bring your own stone and we'll build a custom setting around it. Whether it's a family heirloom diamond, a loose stone you sourced elsewhere, or a gemstone you love, we design and build the setting to fit it perfectly.
Yes. Inset diamond rings, also called flush set or bezel set styles, are a popular custom request at JP Jewelerz. We build these to your exact specifications including stone size, band width, metal choice, and finish.
Absolutely. Nature inspired and mountain engagement rings are one of our most requested custom styles. Utah is mountain country, so it's an aesthetic that means something here.
JP Jewelerz offers both fully custom engagement rings and pre set engagement rings that ship faster. On the custom side we build solitaire rings, halo rings, inset diamond rings, three stone rings, nature inspired designs, mountain rings, and anything you can envision.
National chains like Kay Jewelers and Shane Co sell from existing inventory. Local Utah stores like J. Brooks Jewelers, Rocky Mountain Diamond, Sierra West Jewelers, and Provo Diamonds also carry pre made selections. JP Jewelerz is different because we're a custom first studio. We design and build your ring from scratch around exactly what you want.
Yes. Women's engagement bands, stackable ring sets, and curved wedding bands are all available at JP Jewelerz. Shane Co and other retailers carry women's engagement bands in store, but ours are built to your exact specification.
Yes. Custom wedding bands are a core part of what we do at JP Jewelerz. We build bands from scratch in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and platinum. We also create matching sets for couples.
Yes. This is one of our most common requests. Whether your engagement ring was made by JP Jewelerz, J. Brooks Jewelers, Rocky Mountain Diamond, Sierra West, or any other jeweler, we design a custom wedding band to complement it perfectly.
Yes to both. Custom promise rings are also one of our most popular orders. Rather than picking something off the shelf at Kay Jewelers or Shane Co, you get a ring designed specifically for the moment.
Yes. JP Jewelerz sources and sells loose diamonds, both natural and lab grown, for custom settings. We work with certified stones from GIA and IGI. Shane Co is well known for their in store loose diamond selection, but at JP Jewelerz you get direct sourcing at a better price.
Yes. Moissanite is a popular alternative stone we work with regularly. It has a brilliance that often exceeds a diamond's, ranks 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, and costs significantly less than a natural diamond of the same size.
Yes. Ring resizing and repairs are services we offer at JP Jewelerz. We work on rings from any jeweler, not just pieces made by us. If you bought your ring at J. Brooks Jewelers, Rocky Mountain Diamond, Sierra West, or anywhere else, bring it in.
Ring resizing cost depends on the metal type, the amount of sizing needed, and the complexity of the ring's design. Reach out with details about your ring and we'll give you an honest, upfront quote with no surprises.
JP Jewelerz was founded by Joshua and Payton, two collegiate athletes from BYU and Vanderbilt who experienced firsthand how the jewelry industry takes advantage of big moments. They built JP Jewelerz on direct supplier relationships, full transparency, and a process that puts the client in control at every step.
Because every ring at JP Jewelerz is custom made to your exact specifications, we don't offer refunds once production is complete. That said, we work closely with you throughout the entire design process to ensure every detail is approved before production ever begins.
If there's ever an issue with your JP Jewelerz ring due to craftsmanship or manufacturing, we take care of it. Each situation is handled individually. Our reputation is built on the relationship, and we care more about getting it right than protecting a policy.
Yes. JP Jewelerz is based in Utah but ships worldwide. Every shipment is fully insured and we share photos of your finished piece with you before it leaves. You can also choose local pickup if you're in the Utah area.
Yes. JP Jewelerz stands behind our craftsmanship. We offer warranty coverage on manufacturing defects and work quality. The specifics of coverage depend on the piece and are outlined in your purchase agreement at the time of order.
Remove your ring when doing heavy manual work, applying lotions or chemicals, or working out. Clean it periodically with mild soap and warm water using a soft brush. Bring it in for a professional polish and prong check once a year.
Yes. Ring resizing is something we offer on JP Jewelerz pieces and on rings from other jewelers as well. Finger sizes change over time due to weight, temperature, and age, which is completely normal.
The most accurate way to find your ring size is to visit a local jeweler. Any Utah jewelry store including JP Jewelerz, J. Brooks Jewelers, or Sierra West Jewelers can measure your finger for free. For custom orders, we always recommend professional sizing to ensure a perfect fit.
An engagement ring is given at the proposal and typically features a center stone. A wedding band is exchanged during the ceremony and is usually a simpler band worn alongside the engagement ring. At JP Jewelerz we design both, including custom matching sets.
Yellow gold, with 14k being the most popular, is warm toned, classic, and very durable. White gold has a silver look and is more affordable than platinum. Platinum is the most durable and hypoallergenic. Rose gold has a warm pinkish tone that's been very popular recently. At JP Jewelerz all metals are available for custom orders.
January is garnet. February is amethyst. March is aquamarine. April is diamond. May is emerald. June is pearl or alexandrite. July is ruby. August is peridot. September is sapphire. October is opal or tourmaline. November is topaz or citrine. December is tanzanite or blue topaz. We source and set any birthstone into custom rings and jewelry pieces.
The Mohs hardness scale rates minerals from 1, the softest, to 10, the hardest. Diamonds rate 10. Sapphires rate 9, moissanite rates 9.25, and emeralds rate 7.5 to 8. Softer stones can scratch more easily with daily wear. At JP Jewelerz we'll guide you toward stones that match your lifestyle.
Most custom rings at JP Jewelerz are completed in 2 to 3 weeks, which is 14 to 25 business days depending on design complexity. Even our most intricate pieces are done within 3 weeks maximum. For comparison, many custom jewelers and boutique brands, including Maddie Grace Jewelry, Rocky Mountain Diamond, Sierra West Jewelers, and J. Brooks Jewelers, typically quote 4 to 6 weeks for custom work. We've built our process specifically to cut that timeline in half without cutting corners on quality. Pre set rings ship much faster, often within just a few days.
Share your vision, a sketch, a photo, a reference, or just a description, and we consult on stone selection, metal, and setting style. We provide a detailed quote, you approve it, and production begins. Unlike chain stores like Kay Jewelers or Shane Co where you pick from existing stock, everything at JP Jewelerz is made to order.
Yes. Our online custom ring builder lets you explore metal options, setting styles, and stone types before you ever reach out. Unlike the configurators at Kay Jewelers or Shane Co that lock you into their existing catalog, our builder is a starting point for something completely original.
Not at all. JP Jewelerz works within a wide range of budgets. Custom doesn't automatically mean expensive, it means built for you. Whether you're spending $500 or $10,000, you get the same attention to detail and the same direct communication from start to finish.
